Dimapur, March 13
Against the backdrop of consultative meeting of Nagaland Legislators’ Forum on Naga Political Issue, with NPGs at Police Complex, Chumukedima, GPRN/NSCN Ato Kilonser N Kitovi Zhimomi today said, if Chief Minister TR Zeliang was sure of Naga political solution, then Nagaland Legislative Assembly be dissolved immediately for peaceful transition.
Responding to Chief Minister’s last speech, Kitovi said, “If he was sure of a solution this time, as per numerous claims of readiness by legislators to step aside for Naga political solution, the best practical thing to do was to dissolve the Nagaland Legislative Assembly immediately so that peaceful transition would take place. This would demonstrate the honesty and integrity of the legislators. This is also a pre-political solution necessity and requirement and State Chief Minister must act now.”
MIP, GPRN/NSCN recalled, “On the invitation of the Speaker of Nagaland Legislative Assembly and Chairman of Parliamentary Working Committee (PWC) of Nagaland State Chotisu Sazo, and honest and fruitful deliberation on past political events, present negative political trend and future consequences in the event of a coercive policy towards Nagas of Nagaland to accept the unacceptable accord, where shared between Nagaland legislators and leadership of six Naga political Groups on 9th March 2016 at Police Complex Chumukedima.”
“Unfortunately on 10th March, the media outlets carried only the Chief Minister’s speech conveying the idea that Naga Political Groups had more or less been sensitized to accept 3rd August 2015 Accord, which needs clarification.”
“Chotisu Sazo delivered the historical background of Naga history and political struggle in his opening remark while the Chief Minister TR Zeliang briefed the members on the need to come together and build a future of peace and prosperity. He admitted that he had not seen the contents of the Accord signed between GOI and NSCN (IM) on August 3, 2015 yet in faith and hope, he was hundred percent sure of achieving solution. He asked the NPG leaders not to miss the bus this time around.”
Kitovi lamented that PWC had shamed not only themselves but entire Nagas when the Congress president declared that she did not know the contents of the accord and would not offer a blank check to the 3rd August Accord between GOI and NSCN (IM).
“This implies that the PWC delegation visiting her seeking support had not even the faintest idea what the accord was. A political in the real sense. This can only mean that PWC were simply doing things hoping to win the next election giving very little thoughts to the future of Nagaland. The possible destruction of Nagaland means nothing to them.”
The NPG leaders conveyed to PWC the serious practical erroneous political being played in the name of the Nagas. “The 3rd August Accord is not acceptable to the people of Nagaland because the destiny of the Naga people cannot be decided by few people behind closed door. If the issue of Integration and sovereignty do not feature, there is not right for an outsider to talk on behalf of Nagas of Nagaland. The NPG leaders questioned the PWC as to how they could, without consulting the stakeholders and without taking the people of Nagaland into confidence, talk of inclusiveness when no positive active action towards the same was initiated anywhere.”
“Home Minister Y Patton was honest enough to admit that the journey to Delhi to garner support to the 3rd August Agreement without consulting the Naga political Groups was a mistake. He said that while improving the lives and status of Nagas in other areas is not wrong, what is there for Nagas of Nagaland is very important.”
