DIMAPUR — Regarding the September 19 incident at Vihokhu village, the GPRN/NSCN (U) clarified that some Naga Army personnel were deployed to summon one Hokivi Awomi, a resident of the village, concerning the misuse of money in a lending and borrowing case.

In a press release, the group stated that, however, following the intervention of the Vihokhu Village Council and subsequent assurances from the village authority, the Naga Army, respecting the village authority, left the matter in the hands of the village for further action.

It further informed that Hokivi, while an active member of GPRN/NSCN, took the initiative and acted as a mediator between the borrower and the lender, receiving an amount of INR 7,60,000 from the borrower, which was never handed over to the lender.

Upon receiving a complaint from the lender, an agreement was reached on April 3, 2024, in which Hokivi agreed to handover the amount on or before July 20.

A reminder of the deadline regarding the case was also served on July 18. However, it stated that despite repeated attempts to approach Hokivi to clear the debt, he remained absconding and eventually defected to another faction.
