DIMAPUR — GPRN/NSCN celebrated the 16th Naga Unification Day at its council headquarters, Khehoyi, on Wednesday.

A GPRN/NSCN’s statement through its MIP stated that the programme began with unfurling of the Naga national flag by Inaka Tsuqu, speaker of National Tatar Hoho (NTH), followed with guard of honour. It added that the welcome address was delivered by Hothrong Yimkhiung, kilo kilonser, which was followed with paying of tributes to the martyrs.

On the occasion, Inaka Tsuqu, paid homage to the fallen Naga patriots and dwelled upon the background leading to the unification of the warring Naga national factions in 2007 for a united national movement. He further shared his optimism that the desire and aspiration of the past Naga patriotic pioneers and the Naga people would be realised soon with the blessing and guidance of the Almighty God.

Alezo Venuh, envoy to the collective leadership, spoke about how political negotiation was initiated between the Naga national political groups (NNPGs) and Government of India (GOI) to sort out the long-pending political ambiguity of the vexed Indo-Naga political issue. He also highlighted the conclusion of the political talk with GOI in the year 2019, for which final inking was awaited.

He concluded his speech with words of encouragement to the gathering to rededicate and recommit with the achievement reached so far since 2007 in realisation of Naga political solution.

The auspicious programme concluded with a benediction said by Manging Konyak, assistant chaplain of GHQ church.
