Dimapur, Sep. 2 (EMN): Nagaland government has appealed to the Nagaland Foothill Road Coordination Committee (NFHRCC) to hold back its proposed agitation and to sit across the table for a positive outcome.

NFHRCC convenor Supu Jamir, general secretary W Lemba Chang and the assistant general secretary Chenithung Humtsoe informed that the committee had received a letter from the principal secretary of PWD (Road and Bridges) on September 1 with an appeal to hold back the proposed agitation. The appeal was made as both the chief minister and the deputy chief minister were out of station on official duty.

The principal secretary appealed to NFHRCC to hold back the proposed agitation till their return and sit across the table for a positive outcome.

Meanwhile, NFHRCC has convened a follow-up consultative meeting with the Dimapur-based tribal hohos, various student bodies and well-wishers on September 3 at its base office in Khermahal at 2 pm.

In a related statement, Zeliang Students’ Union Nagaland (ZLSU) has appreciated the NFHRCC for monitoring the construction of Nagaland foothill road from Tizit to Khelma since 2014. ZLSU also expressed full support to the ultimatum submitted by NFHRCC to the state government and exuded confidence that the state government would take up the matter on priority and complete the project without further delay.

ZLSU further expressed its readiness for any action called by NFHRCC in the event if the state government fails to fulfil the demand.
