Dimapur, Aug. 7 (EMN): Minister for Rural Development Metsubo Jamir on Wednesday declared that ‘fund release’ will not be equal or uniform for all the district rural development agencies. It will be based strictly on performance and as what is seen on ‘online portals,’ updates on August 7 stated.
The minister has urged project and block establishments to be alert about these changes, the Rural Development department stated in updates that were issued on Wednesday informing about the minister’s statements.

Interacting with departmental officials, Jamir said ‘certain administrative or operational systems may have to be affected so that the department can try and make up from where it had been lagging.’

Certain changes that need to be made have to be done without any ill intent so that the department does not suffer because of a few officers, he said. The Rural Development department needs a lot of support from each other ‘as one block cannot be isolated from the other,’ he told the officials. ‘It is important to examine themselves and their performances and help each other out.’

Maintaining that people will be expecting much now that he was back in the department, Jamir sought the cooperation of all the officers while also assuring his support to the team led by the principal secretary. He urged officers to speak of issues and try to ‘iron out miscommunications’ if there are any in the department, the updates stated.

Principal Secretary for Rural Department, Bendangkokba, no surname given in the handout, highlighted new programmes. He ‘discussed problems’ about opening bank accounts and implementation of the direct benefit transfer, RGSA and other issues ‘faced,’ the department stated.

Further, secretary for Rural Department, Neposo Theluo, said that the department was ‘fortunate to have him back as he needs no introduction to the programmes and he already knows the problems faced by the department better than anyone.’

The department has to be revamped and streamlined in many ways, he said. The official hoped that the minister will take it as a challenge and that the establishment can move forward with a new vision and renewed commitment, the updates added.
