The government of Nagaland has granted special leave of 30 days to government employees from the Chang community living in two areas of Tuensang district. The government issued a notification on April 23 stating the leave but did not specify the reasons. Chief Secretary to the Government of Nagaland, Pankaj Kumar, issued a notification on Thursday stating that the government has granted special leave to state government employees belonging to the Chang community serving in various departments in Shamator and Chessore sub-division, of Tuensang district.
The special leave, though, has a number of conditions.
The special leave for a period of 30 days with effect from the date the notification was issued. During the period of the special leave, the category of employees will draw salary equal to the pay immediately drawn prior to sanction of the aforesaid leave, along with all allowances as admissible, the notification stated.
Another condition the government stated was that the period of special Leave will count as qualifying service for all purposes, including increments, and pension. “The special leave will not be debited against the leave account of the employees. It is also stated that all heads of departments and the heads of offices at Shamator and Chessore sub-division, Tuensang district, shall take immediate and appropriate action as above,” the notification stated.
