Govt desingnates Police officials, personnel for election

Dimapur, July 15 (EMN): The Government of Nagaland has designated DIGP (Kohima Range) and all Police Personnel of the District of Kohima including Home Guards from the level of the Superintendent of Police down to the level of constable as election related officials for the purpose of Section 28A of the Representation of the People Act, 1951, with immediate effect, dated July 14 till the completion of the by-election to the 10-Northern Angami-I (ST) AC.
The Police officials who are involved in any way in election related arrangements and perform duties in connection with the conduct of by-election to 10-Northern Angami-I (ST) Assembly Constituency are, by law, officers of the Election Commission, being deemed to be on deputation to it, and are subject to its control, superintendent and discipline and are answerable to the Election Commission for any acts of commission or omission on their part while performing any election related duties.
