DIMAPUR, OCTOBER 27

Noting with concern the recent developments of allegations, threats, counter threats and attacks on each other by different factions of the Naga political groups, the State government said such developments are vitiating the atmosphere of peace and tranquility that the State has been enjoying for many years now.
A CMO release today said the Chief Minister is deeply distressed to see such developments at a time when the entire Naga society is working relentlessly to bring about unity and reconciliation among the Naga political groups. He said such activities are counterproductive and self-defeating, and will only serve to negate the political cause of the Nagas and also erode all the progress made so far.
The Chief Minister, therefore, appealed to all the Naga political groups to abstain from such harmful activities, and instead, extend the hand of friendship and reconciliation to each other in the true Christian spirit of forgiveness, and prepare to celebrate the coming season of Christmas in a spirit of joy and hope for better times to come so that all Nagas may be truly blessed during this coming festive season.

WSH APPEALS WARRING GROUPS
Seriously deliberating on the ongoing clashes between two senior members of different NPGs at an emergency meeting today, the Western Sumi Hoho (WSH) has strongly urged the warring groups/individuals to immediately refrain from targeting innocent family members in order to prevent further escalation of the situation.
“Victimizing family members tantamount to violation of human rights and can never be justified in the present civilized times,” WSH president Hokiye Yepthomi and general secretary Viyiho Swu said in a release today.
The clashes between the two senior NPG members have resulted in eviction of family members from Dimapur and the retaliatory action of bombing the private residence of another group member causing injuries generated fear psychosis among the populace in and around Dimapur, the WSH said.
It further appealed to all concerned NPG authorities to rein in their cadres from creating unwarranted situation which has no relevance to the Naga political struggle but rather serves the interests of our adversaries.
The WSH opined that the issues whatsoever should be settled amicably among the warring parties/ individuals at the earliest possible time. The Hoho also resolved that it will be compelled to initiate non-cooperation movement against any group/ individuals that continue to threaten the innocent lives of family members of any group in particular and the public in general.
