Govt. announces planting 40k seeds to harvest ‘green Nagaland’

Kohima, June 6 (EMN): The People’s Democratic Alliance government (PDA) has announced a major environmental campaign for Nagaland that would build the state’s florae wealth and ensure its environment’s health. A component of the campaign is to plant 48,000 saplings in the minimum, according to updates.
In leading the People’s Democratic Alliance government’s (PDA) call to plant more trees to build the state’s florae — by objective a ‘green Nagaland’ — Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio planted saplings outside his official residence in Kohima on Wednesday.
It was during an event commemorating World Environment Day 2018 on June 5 in Kohima that Rio announced that the PDA would be planting minimum 48,000 saplings on campaign mode during the next one week towards achieving a ‘clean and green Nagaland.’ The activity is to celebrate four years of the National Democratic Alliance government at the Centre.
The chief minister informed that each of the 11 districts, and Noklak, will be planting a minimum of 4000 saplings to ensure that the goal of 48,000 saplings is reached. He has called upon the people, of the state to join the campaign and plant more trees to build a ‘green Nagaland.’
On Wednesday, the minister for Planning and Coordination Neiba Kronu, besides leaders of the Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party and officers from the department of Environment, Forest and Climate Change joined the chief minister during the plantation.
