KOHIMA — Nagaland Governor, La. Ganesan, will inaugurate the India’s International Movement to Unite Nations (IIMUN) Kohima conference to be held on May 23 at G Rio School in Kohima.

The IIMUN Kohima conference is the largest educational extravaganza, which will be taking place at G Rio School from May 23 to the 25th with more than 300 students participating in various committees in a MUN format role playing various world leaders and learning diplomacy, negotiation, public-speaking and research skills.

The students will wear traditional clothes on the first day (May 23) while on May 24 and May 25, they will be wearing formal attire whilst debating with other students from classes 7 to 12 across 15 different schools in Nagaland, the statement read.

The debate sessions will spread across 12 committees in 12 classrooms. The debates will raise various moderated and unmoderated caucuses and challenges against other students.

At the end of the debating sessions, a speaker series and a talent hunt will be held, which will see students showcase their talents.

The closing ceremony will be held on May 25. The end of the Kohima conference will see three winners from each committee based on their performance, speaking skills, diplomacy and research about the committee and their portfolio followed by the felicitation of the best school delegation with a trophy, it added.

Founded in 2011, with the first conference taking place in August 2012, over the last decade, more than 5 crore students and over 30,000 schools participated in the IIMUN conferences.

Currently, the IIMUN has a team of 26,000 plus students who help organise conferences.
