Dimapur, Feb. 10 (EMN): Echoing the statement of the prime minister of India that India would develop only with the development of Northeast India, Governor of Assam and Nagaland, Prof. Jagdish Mukhi, has called upon the students to develop the land by taking up agriculture with the latest technology.
Prof. Mukhi stated this while interacting with the students of Zisaji Presidency College in Kiphire on February 9 during his maiden visit to the district. While stressing on the need to develop the land by taking up agriculture with the latest technology, Prof. Mukhi stated that real growth in the North eastern states would come only with the development in the agriculture sector, a DIPR report stated.
The governor expressed hope that interaction among the faculty members and students would bring about reformation and also solve problems prevailing in the society. He was of the opinion that education does not only mean gaining bookish knowledge and securing government jobs.
Also speaking on the occasion, the college principal in-charge, Dr. Puma Chandra Mishra, stated that Prof. Jagdish is a true inspiration and a perfect role model for society. He also informed that Zisaji Presidency College ranked 6th among the top 15 government colleges in the state.
An interaction was also held with the faculty and students of the college. It concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by assistant professor, Zhoveyi Venuh.
