EMN Dimapur, June 26 Yoga is not far from the governor of Governor of Nagaland and Assam, PB Acharya. While he faced some flak from organizations in Nagaland over the call for “celebrating” the primarily Hindu health discipline–that on a Sunday to boot–he spent the day in Assam for a yoga event. The governor participated in a program marking International Yoga Day on June 21 in Shilpgram’s North East Zone Cultural Center in Guwahati of Assam. He is also the chairman of the North East Zone Cultural Center. The program started at 7:00 AM. About 500 students from various schools, and officials and yoga teachers from various organizations attended, the organizers informed. The participants conducted yoga exercises “as per the protocol and schedule” of the Ministry of Ayush, government of India. The governor also released a book ‘Vidya Bharati Sambadh’ of a nongovernmental organization, the Vidya Bharati Sishu Siksha Samiti of Assam. Acharya also presented mementos to eminent persons from community groups such as Byatikram Mass Awareness & Social Development, Vidya Bharati Sishu Siksha Samiti, Seva Bharati, Purbanchal, and Sankardev Vidya Niketan, Howraghat. Likewise, the governor awarded three meritorious students for attaining excellence in the field of Yoga. Their names and disciplines are: • Reecha Mazumder, Patanjali • Anupama Basumatary, Aryabhata • Risabh Kumar Sarma, Ramanujam
