Governor mourns demise of Padma Shri Temjen Jamir

Dimapur, June 13 (EMN): Governor of Nagaland, RN Ravi condoled the demise of Padma Shri Piyong Temjen Jamir, noted Hindi scholar and litterateur, after a prolonged illness on June 12 in Dimapur.

Ravi shared that Jamir was the principal of Rashtra Bhasha Hindi Training Institute, which is the Nagaland based branch of Rashtra Bhasha Prachar Samiti Wardha, and added that he made ‘outstanding contributions in popularising Hindi in Nagaland.’ Ravi said that he helped Naga folklore and literature reach the rest of the country through Hindi.

“He was conferred with many awards in the field of Literature and Education including Padma Shri in 2018. He will go down in history for his contributions to the field of literature and a humanist intellectual who believed in universal brotherhood of mankind.

“In his demise the Country has lost a noted Litterateur and a great thinker,” Ravi shared.

The governor further conveyed condolences to the bereaved family members and prayed to God to give strength to the family to bear this tragic loss.
