Dimapur, April 14 (EMN): Governor of Nagaland and Assam extended festive greetings on the occasion of Vaishadi and Bahag Bihu. The governor said these festivals are celebrated as thanksgiving and an occasion to mark a new beginning of harvest season.

‘It is associated with the onset of their first harvest and celebrated all over India but in different rituals and different names. These harvest festivals also reflect the rich agrarian traditions and composite culture of the country,’ the message read.

Mukhi said that festivals are cultural identities of different states and ‘we should keep them alive’, while adding that festivals unite people regardless of their religions or backgrounds and promote the celebration of diversity.

‘May these festivals be a harbinger of a new dawn of warm and harmonious relationship and usher in peace, prosperity and happiness to all,’ it read.
