Dimapur, Sep. 11 (EMN): The Governor PB Acharya has expressed shock and sadness at the passing away of Shyama Singh on September 11, after a prolonged illness at New Delhi.
In a condolence message addressed to her husband, Nikhil Kumar, former Governor of Nagaland, Acharya stated that Singh was a guiding pillar and a great support whose loving, caring and understanding persona could never be forgotten.
The Governor also conveyed heartfelt condolences on behalf of the people of Nagaland and pray that Almighty God grants strength and solace to the bereaved family to bear the irreparable loss.
Chief Minister: Chief Minister, TR Zeliang is shocked and grieved over the demise of former MP Shyama Singh, wife of former Governor of Nagaland and Kerala, Nikhil Kumar, who passed away after prolonged illness in New Delhi at the age 74.

CM stated that Singh was not only a popular political leader but also an outstanding social worker whose death is a major loss to the Nation.
“During the tenure of her husband Nikhil Kumar as Governor of Nagaland from 2009 to 2013, the people of Nagaland witnessed the presence of Late Shyama Singh in the State whose contribution towards the welfare of the citizens of Nagaland will ever be cherished” the message added.

to learn of the demise of Shyama Singh, Former MP (Lok Sabha) and wife of former Governor of Nagaland, Nikhil Kumar, at Fortis Escorts Hospital, New Delhi in the wee hours on Monday morning.
In a condolence message addressed to Governor of Nagaland Nikhil Kumar, Rio stated that Singh hailed from a renowned family of bureaucrats and was subsequently elected to the Lok Sabha from Aurangabad Parliamentary Constituency in Bihar in 1999, a renowned not only as a politician but also as an outstanding social worker.
“During her stay in Nagaland as the First Lady, I had the opportunity to interact with her on a number of occasions. She had a pleasant personality and I found her to be intelligent and well-versed with a variety of issues faced by the people of the country.
In her demise, the people of this nation have lost a great stateswoman, and the people of Nagaland will fondly cherish the memories of her stay in the State” the condolence message stated.
Rio along with his family extended heartfelt condolences to members of the bereaved family. “It is our steadfast prayer that Almighty God would grant you solace and strength to bear with this great loss. May the departed soul rest in eternal peace,” the message added.
