DIMAPUR, JANUARY 26

Leaders of the DAN partners have apprised the Governor to help end the political quagmire in the state. In a press statement, the NPF headed by Shurhozelie said said that deeply perturbed and excruciatingly anguished by the continued struggle arising out of the dissident NPF legislators’ creation; the very party that heads the Democratic Alliance of Nagaland (DAN), for the third consecutive term, concerned party organization leaders of the DAN coalition partners including the Naga People’s Front (NPF), JD (U) and NCP Nagaland State units, on January 25 jointly met the Governor of Nagaland and apprised him of the ground reality and deliberated at length, the root causes of the current imbroglio, urging him to help bring an end to the overdue tussle through the constitutional means without fear or favor or further delay. A DAN joint memorandum was also handed over/submitted to the Governor. The State unit of BJP, a major partner in the DAN coalition, could not be a signatory on the plea that it had to abide by its High Command’s directive to stay neutral vis-à-vis the inner party struggle within the NPF, it added.
According to the statement, Mhonjan Lotha and Er. T.L. Semdok, president of Nagaland state unit JD (U) and NCP respectively, including the secretary general, K.G. Keneye and Working presidents Apong Pongener and Huskha Yepthomi of NPF Central Hqs. Kohima and several members of the visiting team of the DAN coalition party organizations apprised the Governor of the “ground realities of the lingering hardship caused by the rebel NPF legislators for no agenda of mass benefit other than the selfish and tacit intend of a few vested interests, trying all nefarious means, determined to dislodge the state’s DAN coalition government under Chief Minister T.R. Zeliang, and appealed to him that a floor test in the state assembly, as recommended by the cabinet be summoned at the earliest in the interest of the public”.
“The voice the political parties which is the voice of the people needs to be heeded to, and as there is no alternative but to go by the constitutional system, the hon’ble Governor, who is the guardian of the constitution is urged upon to call the floor test at the earliest without fear or favor,” the statement said.
