DIMAPUR — Affirming the government's commitment to provide quality education, Minister of PHED and Cooperation, Jacob Zhimomi, assured on Saturday that all government programmes related to education would be fully implemented, and that every effort would be made to address every available scope and opportunity.
Speaking at the 50th anniversary celebration of Unity Christian Higher Secondary School (UCHSS) in Diphupar village, Chümoukedima, the minister stated that human resource development has become one of the fundamental priorities of the Government of India.

He added that similar instructions have been issued to all the state governments to implement the programmes of the Government of India in their respective states. He expressed confidence that schools, colleges and other educational institutions have received necessary directives and instructions, particularly from the Education department.
The minister commended the school on its past achievements in all activities, including the matric and higher secondary examinations.
He also expressed optimism that the institute would continue pursuing and promoting the principles and doctrines set by the pioneers. He expressed happiness to learn that many students from the school have become officers, business persons and educators.
Zhimomi also suggested replicating good practices from the schools in other states by incorporating various government programmes. He added that instilling good social behaviour with specialisation in a specific subject could take one’s life forward.
Referring to the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, which lays special emphasis on cultural identity and language, he encouraged inserting them in the school curriculum.
On the occasion, the minister also released the school's golden jubilee souvenir.
Delivering the keynote address, managing director of UCHSS, A Daili, recounted the day when the school first started in 1975 with only six students running from Class A to II. He added that the school has now blossomed to a higher secondary level with Arts, Science and Commerce streams.
He described the golden jubilee as more than just a celebration but a tribute to the countless lives that have been touched, the friendships built and the dreams that have taken root within the walls.
He thanked the tireless devotion of the teachers; to parents who have trusted them with their children; to students for filling the campus with energy and purpose; community leaders for supporting them; and to the friends who stood by them through every challenge.
Highlights of the programme included felicitation of the founding members and a song presentation by the students.
