Government taking initiatives to promote unsung freedom fighters, says Manipur CM

Imphal, June 17 (EMN): Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh on Friday said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Central government has taken up certain initiatives to promote unsung freedom fighters, who had contributed much in shaping the country, to the knowledge of our youths.
Singh was speaking at a book discussion on “Veer Savarkar: The man who could have prevented partition”, authored by Central Information Commissioner, Uday Mahukar and Chirayu Pandit in Imphal.
Stressing the need to have discussions and symposiums on history and certain other issues, which would act as a roadmap towards a better Manipur, Singh said that the present generation needs to know about freedom fighters, who played important roles in making present day India.
The book discussion programme was organised by Intellectual Forum of North East – Manipur, and was attended by Prof. N Rajmuhon Singh (Dhanamanjuri University); Prof. N Lokendra Singh (Manipur University); Prof. Paonam Gunindro Singh (Manipur University of Culture); Director of Regional Institute of Medical Sciences, Prof Ahanthem Santa Singh; Kargil war hero, Col. (Dr.) Rajesh Adhau SM and General Council Member, Sangeet Natak Akademi, New Delhi Sh Nabachandra Sharma.
