Dimapur, Aug. 16 (EMN): Terming the government’s speeches on Independence and Republic Days as mere summary of its achievements and policy document, Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC) stated that unemployment and entrepreneurs’ issues are not in the vision of the state government.
“There is no reflection in the Independence Day message. The speech not only failed to show any change but also did not could give any hope,” NPCC president K Therie alleged.
Stating that the Independence Day message was marked by Covid-19 pandemic efforts, Therie failed to understand whether TrueNat machine reports should be considered as Covid-19 positive, whereas the Centres for Disease Control and Prevention of the US government has recommended Bio-Safety Level-3 laboratories to test Covid-19.
Therie also ridiculed the state government for setting up a strategic committee headed by the chief minister as well as the department of Investment and Development Authority of Nagaland (Idan) in response to the economic challenges with no policies to fund entrepreneurs.
He likened it to supplying pen-drives to students with no access to computers to read the contents. He argued that there is no point of talking of dreams and plans with no funding policies.
“PM in order to boost the economy has induced INR 20 lakh crore but Nagaland state has no clue as to what to do,” Therie stated.
While welcoming the jobs created under the Rural Development department, Therie, however, was of the view that more than 4.5 lakh people would be employed if job cards were distributed honestly. He added that if the 100-day wages are honestly paid, it would enable the farmers to work on their own farms.
He further advised the government to ‘stop obtaining blank cheques and indulge in convergence of funds to other activities from wages’ money in this time of the pandemic.’
