MOKOKCHUNG — Government offices across Mokokchung district remained closed on Tuesday as employees observed the first day of a three-day pen-down strike called by the Joint Coordination Committee (JCC) comprising CANSSEA, FONSESA, NIDA, NSSA, and NF&ASA.
Government schools also took part in the strike, suspending classes and administrative functions in solidarity.
Treasury Officer Mokokchung, Temsupongla, confirmed that the strike was “uniformly enforced across all government offices,” adding that the district has more than 80 DDOs. She informed that the protest would continue till October 16.
The JCC’s decision to call the strike follows growing discontent over the state government’s move to induct non-State Civil Service (non-SCS) officers into the Indian Administrative Service (IAS) — an issue the committee maintains remains unresolved despite repeated appeals to the authorities.
