Kohima, May 29 (EMN):
Kohima district administration distributed rations to the members of Two-Wheeler Taxi Association (TWTA) at Kohima local ground on May 29. The association has about 130 members whose livelihood were also affected due to the lockdown.

Speaking to Eastern Mirror, TWTA president, Chumben stated that many riders were out of job since lockdown. He informed that with the uncertain situation in the state, survival has become a question for some members.
He said that the benevolent act of the government in extending help to the riders has come as a relief to the members. He thanked the government for the concern shown towards its members.

TWTA member, Vika revealed that some riders were currently undergoing grim situations with the lockdown, as they have to look after their family while some need to repay the amount of the equated monthly instalment (EMI) for their two-wheeler and borrowed loans.

Another member, Davis shared that he was delighted when he first joined the profession as he found an opportunity to earn a living. He, however, stated that the pandemic has put him and his fellow members in a difficult situation as everything has come to a halt.

He maintained that the pandemic has affected their livelihood as some have to support their families, while some have to repay loans.

Both the members have thanked the government for extending help to them in the form of ration, especially when they are undergoing hard times due to the unprecedented situation.
