Government directs schools to organise voter awareness campaign

DIMAPUR — As per the directives from the Ministry of Education, the department of School Education has informed all the head of higher secondary schools registered under the Nagaland Board of School Education (NBSE) to organise a two-week voter awareness campaign in February 2024.

It informed that the list of suggested set of creativity, voter’s pledge, movies, music albums, videos, information booklets, voter’s guide, selfie point etc. are being forwarded in Google drive along with list of activities to be carried out by students/ educational institutions. It stated that the campaign symbolises the festive importance of elections and the pride of voting in the largest democracy in the world. Schools are asked to share the logo/ tagline on school/ college websites and on the social media handles of educational institutions.

Schools are asked to encourage students to create content/ reels/ shorts videos/ poems etc. and upload the content using #ChunavKaParvDeshKaGarv to amplify the message.

Schools are also asked to facilitate educational sessions in colleges and universities to emphasise the value of voting, how to make informed choices and understanding of the electoral processes etc. It added that district electoral officers (DEO), AERO and other election officials could be approached for interaction with students.

It informed that the photos and videos of the seminars could be uploaded on the website and shared on the social media handles of ECI and using hashtag #ChunavKaParvDeshKaGarv and #IVoteforSure.

The directive stated that informative and motivational films and songs provided in the google drive should be screened during school/ college festivals, events, annual functions etc. It added that the same content should be forwarded on students whatsapp group.

Students are encouraged to share/ upload the song and videos on their social media handles and make the reels with hashtag #ChunavKaParvDeshKaGarv and #IVoteforSure.

Schools and colleges are asked to organise competitions such as quiz, drawing, slogan contest etc. on the theme of ‘I Vote For Sure’ and upload photos/ videos of those events on the social media accounts of the schools/ universities/ colleges etc. tagging official ECI handles.

Schools are also asked to organise voter’s pledge during official events, festivals, important youth days, college festivals and annual programmes with the backdrop. They are also asked to upload the group photograph administering the pledge on the website/ social media accounts tagging the ECI SVEEP website with #IVoteforSure and #ChunavKaParvDeshKaGarv to amplify the message.

Meanwhile, students are encouraged to share their selfies on their social media handles with hashtags with #IVoteforSure and #ChunavKaParvDeshKaGarv.

It further directed to share information materials such as voter guide, comic book and election atlas to whatsapp groups and social media handles. Students are encouraged to further re-share the content through their social media platforms to ensure its wider dissemination.

The department has requested all higher secondary schools to carry out the activities listed above and ensure the voter awareness campaign a success.
