Dimapur, Sep. 12 (EMN): The Land Revenue department has issued a notice to the government departments to obtain land deeds for their establishments for the reason that encroachment is leading to loss of government lands.

The IPR reported on Thursday that the government has noted that during the past few years, instances of encroachment of lands held by various government departments and agencies have been increasing. It added that this is resulting in considerable loss of government land.

The government publicity agency the department of Information and Public Relations (IPR) issued a report to the media on Wednesday informing about the notice.

The IPR stated: ‘Numerous instructions have been issued from time to time for proper management, maintenance and security of government lands held by various government departments/agencies in the state.’

‘Therefore, it has directed that all government departments/agencies in possession of land to obtain land patta (sic) within a period of six months of issue of this office memorandum along with a copy of countersigned survey map which should be held in the records of the department/agency.’

Government departments and agencies should secure lands from possible encroachment by way of constructing security fencing and boundary walls, the updates stated.

‘The adherence to instructions contained in the office memorandum will be reviewed after lapse of the stipulated period,’ the IPR stated.
