Government announces year-long Netaji’s birth celebration

Dimapur, Jan. 24 (EMN): Commemorating the 125th birth anniversary of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose, the government of India (GoI) has announced a year-long celebration by organising various activities across the country.
This was announced by the Nagaland advisor for Power department, Tovihoto Ayemi, while addressing the function organised by Netaji Birth Anniversary Committee at Chatteswary Durgabari, Dimapur, on January 24.
Speaking as the special guest, Ayemi lamented that due recognition was not accorded to Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose post India’s independence by successive governments at the Centre. He went on to add that it was the BJP-led NDA government under the leadership of the Prime Minister Narendra Modi that a year-long celebration has been initiated to commemorate his 125th birth anniversary.
Talking about the time when Netaji set up INA camp at Ruzazho in Phek district from April-May 1944, Ayemi narrated the events that unfolded and how the entire village put their trust on him and arranged the things required for his onward journey.
“Netaji was an educator, writer, journalist, commander and military man,” Ayemi said adding that his sacrifices for the nation was unparalleled and his birth anniversary would now be celebrated in a befitting manner every year.
“It will be a year-long event reaching every nook and corner of the country,” Ayemi declared.
Terming Netaji as a “true patriot,” Ayemi stated that Nagas should learn many things from him.
Meanwhile, Ruzazho village in Phek district celebrated the birth anniversary of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose by organising various events on January 23.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Vekho Swuro, chairman of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose Development Society Nagaland and also a member of high level committee for the 125th birth anniversary of Subhas Chandra Bose, remarked that the day is observed as “Parakram Divas” (Day of valour).
Swuro also added that Ruzazho village has composed folk songs in memory of Netaji in their local dialogue, some of which read: “Subhas Bose is our only love one,” “Brave man come to Ruzazho village to liberate India to attain freedom, may his mission be accomplish.”
He recounted that in 1944, Netaji came to Naga hills and held up at Ruzazho village and appointed Dobashi and Gaon Burah. He also claimed that Indian council of historical research recognised Ruzazho village as the first administered village by Azad Hind Fauj in India in 1944.
Vekho further urged everyone to dedicate themselves for nationalism and remember the thoughts and the visions of Netaji.
