Gov. inaugurates AGE platinum jubilee celebration

Dimapur, Jan. 17 (EMN): The Governor of Nagaland PB Acharya formally inaugurated the platinum jubilee celebration of Academy of General Education (AGE) at Fortune Inn Valley View on Jan. 4 at Manipal as the chief guest. This was informed in a press release issued by PRO to governor on Wed. In his inaugural address, Acharya spoke about the education system in the country and said that it needed changes. He said the ultimate goal of getting education should not be just to acquire a degree and earn but to serve the people and make the society strong. He called on the achievers to be givers. Acharya also stressed on ‘having a curriculum to unite and strengthen India.’ The AGE was established in the year 1942 by Dr. TMA Pai and at present it is managing six arts, science and commerce colleges and eleven primary, high and secondary schools, the press release stated. It also mentioned that governor was a first batch student of the Mahatma Gandhi Memorial College at Udupi, which was the first college started by Dr. Tonse Madhav Ananth Pai, a great educationist, entrepreneur and visionary. The Academy has also started the Manipal University with enrolment of national and international students.
