Gorkha churches conference underway

Dimapur, Jan. 10 (EMN): A three-day 12th annual general conference of the Association of Gorkha Baptist Churches Nagaland (AGBCN) got underway on  January 10 at its mission centre in Singrijan, Dimapur district.

The 12th conference is being held on the theme “Rooted and growing in Christ” (Colossians 2:7) and hosted by seven Gorkhali Baptist Churches comprising of Diphupar, Khehokhu, Padumpukhuri, Xukiye, Zaka, Nikiqhe an Khuiabill villages of Dimapur district.

Pastor of Christian City Church in Macky City, Australia, Peter Loosmore, would be the worship speaker of the conference, while pastor of GBC Diphupar, Gideon Gurung, and pastor of GBC Khehokhu, Binod Lama, would be the Bible study speakers.

With the attendance of more than 500 delegates from 36 out of the 40 affiliated churches, AGBCN chairman Tek Gurung unfurled the association flag followed with hoisting of the respective church flags.

NBC Padumpukhuri presented the opening spotlight, while introduction, adoption of programme and roll call was made led by AGBCN executive secretary Santabir Rai. The welcome address was delivered by convener of the organising committee and pastor of GBC Khehokhu, Binod Lama. Pastor of Dimapur Rengma Baptist Church, Rev. Tenga Seb. shared greetings on the occasion.

The conference speaker, Loosmore, delivered message on the topic “Rooted and growing in unity” on the inaugural day. The conference publicity wing stated that discussion on various activities, developmental as well as mission works of the association would be the highlights of the second day programme.
