Dimapur, March 11 (EMN): The Western Chakhesang Hoho (WCH) held its General Session 2019 at WCH Conference Hall, Chakhesang Colony Dimapur on March 9 with Dimapur deputy commissioner Kevekha Kevin Zehol as the quest speaker. An update from Vide Ritse, publicity and information secretary of WCH informed that it was attended by VCCs, GBs, leaders and representatives from 16 unit/villages under WCH and frontal organisations of WCH. Noting that WCH has served the community for 51 years, WCH president Dietho Rhakho called upon the people to “maintain good relationship and peaceful co-existence among Chakhesangs in particular and the great Naga family in general.” He also appealed to the community to extend full co-operation to administration and police departments. Dietho also appealed the deputy commissioner of Dimapur, who is also the chairman of Dimapur District Sports Council, to put up a photo of late Goyiepra Kenye at DDSC in recognition of his contribution to Nagas by leading the Kohima Sardar students movement. Zehol lamented that the “good Naga culture is fading away.” He said it was disheartening to see the majority population in the villages and towns, who have enough land to cultivate, are now becoming more dependent on the rice supple and subsidy schemes given by government. The DC stated that young people are relying on VIP recommendations while giving interviews for job instead preparing well and that “all these wrong cultures are negating our society and therefore a new mindset need to be recreated.” He appealed to the community members to “rejuvenate honesty, bravery and hard work culture which has always being our identity.”
