Dimapur, Dec. 28: Following strong opposition from various quarters starting right from the Chief Minister’s Office to civil societies and church organisations, Nagaland did not officially observe the Good Governance Day that was scheduled by the Central Government for December 25.
Talking to Eastern Mirror, officials from the district administrations of both Dimapur and Kohima informed that there were no specific directions from the government to observe the day and so no programmes were conducted.
It is also reported that Governor PB Acharya is out of station since December 18 last, and the governance day was also not observed in Raj Bhavan. As the date for observation of the Good Governance Day coincides with Christmas celebrations. it was opposed in the State that has 90 percent Christian population.
