The Gold Cup 50-Ball Cricket Tournament organised by Nepali Baptist Church Kohima began at Rüzhükhrie Government Higher Secondary School Ground on Thursday.

KOHIMA — The three-day Gold Cup 50-Ball Cricket Tournament (Six-a-side, Tennis Ball) got underway at Rüzhükhrie Government Higher Secondary School Ground, Kohima, on Thursday, with 18 teams participating in the tournament.
Organised by the Nepali Baptist Church (NBC), Kohima, the tournament marked the commemoration of the year-long golden jubilee celebration of NBC Kohima, scheduled to be celebrated from July 31 to August 2.
The three-day event is being held to promote fellowship, sportsmanship, and community bonding among church youth.

On the occasion, Youth Secretary of the Nagaland Baptist Church Council (NBCC) Rev. N Suhuto Chishi spoke on the importance of sports ministry in nurturing discipline, consistency, and unity among youth.
He also shared insights from his experience in sports development, including football D License training, and encouraged churches to actively engage youth through sports.
He further urged players to remain steady, endure challenges with consistency, and seek God as the ultimate healer from tension and anxiety.
Highlighting the significance of teamwork over individualism, he said that every player matters in the game of life, and likened God to an umpire who watches over all from heaven. He called upon the youth to remain within the mercies of God and not “run out” spiritually.
The Gorkha Public Panchayat Kohima President Santu Thapa will attend the valedictory function as special guest on January 24 at 2 pm.
