Dimapur, Jan. 25 (EMN): General Officer Commanding (GOC) of Spear Corps, Lt. Gen. Rajeev Sirohi, has visited the remote and far flung areas of Eastern Nagaland to review the security situation. He was accompanied by IGAR (North).
A defence release stated that the Corps commander visited 7 Sector Headquarters in Tuensang where he was briefed on the security situation. He also visited Dan and Lungwa on the Indo-Myanmar border.
The General officer had commended the troops of Assam Rifles for their devotion and dedication to duty. He also interacted with locals at both Dan and Lungwa and assured them of continued support of the army in all their endeavours.
At Dan, the General officer especially met with the Village Guards (VGs) Yangthang (98) and Kiamhu (95) of Pangsha village. The duo, in the year 1957, had fought valiantly against insurgent attack to protect their village, the release added.
