DIMAPUR— The deputy commissioner of Phek, Kumar Ramnikant, stated that the goal of a developed India could be achieved by the youth with clear vision and with a sense of responsibility.

Kumar stated this during Yuva Utsav-India@ 2047 organised by Nehru Yuva Kendra (NYK), in collaboration with the district administration held at Government Higher Secondary School in Phek town on June 8 on the theme ‘Panch Pran of Amrit Kaal.’

Kumar stated that the timeline from 2022-2047 has been taken as a challenge to see what India would be like after 25 years, stated a DIPR report. Dwelling on the theme, he pointed out that the variation in providing opportunities such as education, job facilities between cities, difference in states performance and lack of communication facilities in parts of the country reflected that the country is not developed as a nation. He, therefore, stated that the dream of a developed nation depended on the youth.

Kumar advised the students to remove colonial mindsets as it hinder the growth of the country and to take pride in one’s heritage and pass on the legacy to the next generation. He further called for internal unity with no difference among one another to face the world and take a sense of responsibility as a citizen to contribute to society and towards the growth of the country.

DYO of NYK Phek, P Rebecca Rangnamei stated that Yuva Utsav-India@ 2047, which is part of Azadi Ka Amrita Mahotsav, was organised to share a common platform with a vision to bring all the students of Phek district under one umbrella.

According to Rebecca, ‘Panch Pran of Amrit Kaal’ highlighted the goals of developed India to remove any trace of slavery or colonial mindset but to take pride in their heritage and legacy, unity and solidarity and sense of duty among the citizens.

She stated that the event would help rekindle the spirit of patriotism and values of India’s freedom struggle among the youths and celebrate the diverse culture and heritage. She informed that the event would progress from the district to state-level and culminate at the national level.

It stated that students from various schools in the district participated in painting, poem, mobile photography, cultural folk song competitions and declamation contest. Various government departments have also set up stalls to showcase their activities to the students followed with an exhibition volleyball match among the students.

The school vice principal, Kote-u Sekhami, delivered the welcome address, while the DTCC, NTCP District Hospital Phek, Neiweü Losou Kotso, spoke on the ill effects of tobacco consumption.

In the mobile photography contest, Seveto Ringa from GHSS Phek won the first prize, while Mutunuzo Chizo and Thusoveyi Lohe, both from GHSS Phek, won the second and third prizes respectively.

In the painting competition, Zhoseto Dozo from Phek Government College won the first prize, while Shebu Dozo and Anuralu Venuh, both from GHSS Phek, won the second and third prizes respectively.

In the declamation competition, Naomi Vese from GHSS Phek won the first prize, while Ranjan Sha from Phek Government College won the second prize and Vepota Khesoh from GHSS Phek won the third prize.

In the folk song competition, GHSS Phek won the first prize, while Christian Mission Higher Secondary School, Phek, and GHSS Phek won the second and third prizes respectively.

In the poetry writing competition, Tsulalu Chizo from GHSS Phek won the first prize, while Mhashevelu Venuh and Vetsolu Chizo, both from GHSS Phek, won the second and third prizes respectively.
