Dimapur, June 1 (EMN):
A group of returnees from Goa, numbering around 200, were reportedly left with ‘uncertainty and confusion’ just before they reached their quarantine facility.

Speaking to Eastern Mirror, one of the returnees from Goa said that they had reached Dimapur on May 31 and were immediately taken to Kohima to be kept at K Badze quarantine centre for 14 days institutional quarantine.

He said that they reached Kohima at around 9 am on June 1, and were scanned at IG stadium. After that, they were taken to K Badze quarantine facility.

However, he said that they were ‘shocked’ when the police stationed there did not allow them to enter the quarantine facility stating that there was ‘no room’. He said that only after waiting for several hours, they were allowed to enter.

Delayed by protocol

The quarantine facility in-charge, Dr. Asuno, said that the returnees were delayed not because there were no rooms but due to ‘medical protocols and proceedings’. She said that the returnees were called out one-by-one to be taken to Naga Hospital Authority Kohima (NHAK) for testing and the process took a long time as they had to ‘take attendance to make sure that everyone was there’.

She informed that one group of the returnees were tested just outside the quarantine facility by the staff of NHAK, while the rest of the returnees were transferred to NHAK for collecting samples.

Stating that the information regarding the number of rooms available at each quarantine centre were available at the quarantine control room and the district administration, she said that the allegation of ‘no rooms’ by some of the returnees was false.

She said that she had no idea how the police personnel had provided that answer. “We are all informed beforehand about how many returnees are coming, so we do our preparation accordingly,” she said.
