Dimapur, April 25 (EMN): Global Naga Forum (GNF) and Naga Mothers Association (NMA) collectively carried out a peace and relief operation to assist the affected families and victims of a massive fire at Longliang village in Tirap district of Arunachal Pradesh.
A joint statement from the two civil organisations on Sunday stated that a six-member team visited Longliang village on April 18, with relief materials of cash and kind.
It said that a cheque worth INR 2, 00, 758, INR 10, 000 in cash from Mao Baptist Church Chumoukedima along with ninety eight sacks of clothes, shoes, blankets, utensils, rice, salt, essential items were handed over to the village council and relief committee.
The relief team was led by Dr. Rosemary Dzuvichu, Abeiu Meru, Pastor Adahe Nelli, Yapang Longkumer, Gugu Haralu, and Tongpang Longchar.
It further stated that the ‘Raja’ and village council leaders conveyed their appreciation to the GNF, NMA and generous donors “who had sent such help to this furthermost corner of Naga village in Tirap”.
Pastor Nelli led the prayers for peace and God’s blessings on the villagers.
The GNF and NMA also expressed its gratitude to all the donors who came forward to help the fire victims.
“We are grateful to the deputy chief minister and DGP, Nagaland for helping the relief team with the transport to carry the relief materials to Arunachal. We are indebted to the police drivers of the vehicles who travelled to such a distance on the humanitarian mission .We also place on record our deep gratitude to GNF members of Arunachal,former Home Minister James Wanglat and Gawang ,women leader Lungya and other Naga friends who arranged local hospitality, received us with such warmth at Khonsa and accompanied the relief team . May God bless the Naga family with peace and better understanding in the days to come,’ it read.
