GMS Gariphema Bawe celebrates cultural day
KOHIMA — The Government Middle School (GMS) in Gariphema Bawe celebrated a vibrant cultural day with active participation of the teachers and students on October 10.
The special guest, Gucho Kire, who is also the Gaonbura (GB) of Gariphema village, spoke on the values of honesty and obedience.
Drawing inspiration from the Bible, Kire reminded the children that those who respect their elders, parents, and teachers tend to live long and prosperous life. He, however, lamented that such values are becoming increasingly rare in today’s generation. He also encouraged the young students to follow the examples of their forefathers, who were known for their integrity and respect to become responsible citizens.
Kire also urged the children to cherish the traditional values passed down through generations. He emphasised that by instilling good moral values, one can achieve success and lead an exemplary life.
During the event, a captivating traditional attire show was organised, wherein Neitseinuo Kets from class 8 was declared winner for the best traditional attire among the girls, while the award for the best traditional attire among the boys was jointly shared by Chabu Kire from class 6 and Neichatuo Kets from class 2.
In the traditional food contest, Keneiphrezo Pesochü from class 5 claimed the first position, with Neichatuo Kets from class 3 securing the second position. The third position was jointly awarded to Keneingulie Chiese and Keneikhriezo Chiese, both from class 3.
The winners of these competitions received traditional ornaments as prizes.
