DIMAPUR — Renewing its push for international intervention, the Global Naga Forum has once again appealed to the United Nations to launch an independent, time-bound investigation into alleged drone strikes targeting civilians in Myanmar’s Naga Self-Administered Zone (NSAZ).
In a statement issued on Wednesday, the forum also urged global human rights bodies and the government of Myanmar to condemn the attacks, ensure accountability, and prevent further harm to civilians.
The appeal has been prompted by a reported drone strike on Khammaoi village on April 6, allegedly carried out by the Indian Army.

According to the GNF, three drone bombs were dropped in and around a residential area, destroying a thatched house, though an elderly man and his grandchild inside escaped unhurt.
Describing the incident as part of a “disturbing pattern,” the forum maintained that repeated strikes on the same village signal an escalation in the use of force in civilian areas.
It recalled a similar attack in October last year that killed a 27-year-old student and a seven-year-old child, while injuring several others.
Calling the strikes a “grave and unacceptable abuse of military power,” the GNF demanded an immediate halt to drone warfare in civilian areas and reaffirmed solidarity with Naga communities in Myanmar seeking safety, justice, and protection of ancestral lands.
