We should bear in mind that NNPG Working group had political discussion with India Interlocutor R.N. Ravi only for the first time on 23rd September 2017. It is barely one month since the political dialogue had taken place. On the other hand, it took several years for the NSCN (IM) to come to a ‘Framework Agreement’. So as the talk with NNPG is very recent, it is the wishes and desire of the Naga people that sufficient and reasonable time is given to the NNPG to come to a logical conclusion with R.N. Ravi. In the light of this situation, the recent meeting with the Indian Home Minister and R.N. Ravi by Nagaland Chief Minister, Ministers and Lok Sabha MP on 3rd November to settle the Naga issue before Christmas (Setting a deadline) was a wrong move and does not augured well with the protracted Naga political settlement which remained elusive for over 70 years. We should not do anything in haste. Holding General Election is secondary concern and amicable settlement of Naga political issue is our primary and top concern. Therefore setting one two months time frame to conclude the vexed issue as pressurised by the State political Leaders is not acceptable. Moreover if anything on a Naga political issue had to be done, first the Naga people should be consulted. Themiakhrielie Kohima
