Girls from Manipur part of team India at Asian Bodybuilding and Physique Sports Championship

Imphal, June 21 (EMN): Two girls from Manipur’s Ukhrul district will represent India at the 54th Asian Bodybuilding and Physique Sports Championship 2022 to be held from July 15 to 21st in Maldives.
The two girls are Solimla Jajo (17) from Kasom Khullen and Solan Jajo (17) from Leishi village.
On Monday, the Body Builders’ Association of Ukhrul District (BBAUD) hosted a felicitation cum blessing programme for the two girls on being qualified for the international fitness competition.
Solimla will participate in the 165 cm senior model physique competition while Solan will be competing in 160 cm senior model physique event. Both the athletes are trainees of Royal gymnasium, Ukhrul since 2021.
According to reports, seven individuals including Solimla and Solan will represent India at the championship.
Stating that 61 athletes of BBAUD have participated in seven international, 12 national and numerous state level competitions, BBAUD’s president Dr. Wisdom informed, “Both Solimla and Solan, apart from Asian championship, are set to represent India in the Miss World contest to be held in Thailand this year.”
Meanwhile, president David K Shimray of Tangkhul Naga Long, an apex body of Tangkhul community in Manipur, also lauded the girls over their selection in the Indian team for the Asian event and further assured to extend support to the girls.
Robert Meitei, an instructor of Royal Gymnasium, Ukhrul and also an advisor of BBAUD, said Ukhrul is the best performing district among hill districts since its establishment in 2014.
