Girl child achievers in academic field felicitated in Wokha

Dimapur, Sep. 18 (EMN): Under the Beti Bachao Beti Padhao (BBBP), the Wokha district administration and District Level Centre for Women: Mahila Shakti Kendra (DLCW-MSK) organised a programme at deputy commissioner conference hall on Friday, to felicitate the girl child who achieved 100% transition and done exceptionally well in the field of education basing on last year academic results.

Cash incentives and citation were given to 17 schools under Wokha district. The award was categorised into two- classes 5 to 6 (three schools) and classes 8 to 9 (14 schools), an update informed.

Extra Assistant Commissioner Imtinungula Longkumer, while giving away the cash award to the teacher in-charges, urged them to utilise the funds judiciously for the welfare of the school so that students will be encouraged to do better and bring good results in the coming years as well.

The district administration also gave away blanket, kits for baby and nutritional supplements to one of the lactating mother returnees who reached the district during the lockdown period under BBBP.

GHS teacher in-charge Wozhuro, who spoke on behalf of all the teachers, lauded the district administration and DLCW-MSK for taking up such initiative to encourage the girl child and expressed hope that they will be encouraged to do better in the years to come.
