Government Higher Secondary School (GHSS) at Diphupar-A on February 16 felicitated N Nyemjun Konyak for bagging the first runners-up in indigenous toys and games (male) category during the ‘Kala Utsav National Level Competition 2022-23’ held in Bhubaneswar, Odisha, from January 3 to the 7ᵗʰ.
An update from the school informed that Nyemjun Konyak, a student of class 9, made a Naga traditional go-kart with natural raw materials collected from his native village Sheanghahchingnyu in Mon district, which won him the award. It stated that he demonstrated twice on the functioning of go-cart by driving in the corridor during the competition which impressed the judges and remarked that ‘this is called the real indigenous toys and games.’
The school also congratulated Kaimangsomba Chang and Moanaro Jamir, state-level winners of Kala Utsav 2022-23 for participating in solo drama (male) category and 2D visual art (female) category respectively at the national level. It stated that a total of 714 participants from 28 states, 8 union territories, KVS and NVS showcased their talent in 10 different art forms.
It mentioned that the Kala Utsav winners were invited at Pariksha Pe Charcha 2023 at New Delhi. It stated that N Nyemjun Konyak was the lone student from government schools of Nagaland who got the privilege to display the indigenous go-kart in the exhibition.
Meanwhile, the school’s principal, C Henow Phom, also appreciated Nzanbeni Lotha, who escorted the students on both occasions, while felicitating the winner and the participants.
