DIMAPUR — The Government High School (GHS), Naga United Village, Kohima, celebrated its golden jubilee on the theme ‘Honouring our past, envisioning our future’ with Dr. Kekhrielhoulie Yhome, Advisor for School Education and SCERT, as the Special Guest, on Thursday.

During the event, Yhome emphasised that, in tandem with global changes, the Nagas are currently excelling in various fields, competing both nationally and internationally, and achieving significant milestones, according to a press release.

He expressed his hope that the school will produce outstanding individuals who will contribute to the progress of the people and the state over the next fifty years.

Yhome acknowledged the difficulties that the Education Department faces in a state like Nagaland, particularly in managing over four lakh students across private and public institutions, and stressed the critical role of educators in nurturing these students, who represent the future of the state.

He also highlighted the government’s commitment to expanding and upgrading schools in the coming years.

In response to the village council’s memorandum requesting the school’s upgrade to a higher secondary school, he assured that the government would review the matter, provided the school meets the required criteria.

Yhome also expressed empathy for the teachers, recognising their dedicated efforts despite being frequently undervalued.

On the occasion, the special guest also unveiled the jubilee monolith and the souvenir.
