Dimapur, April 30 (EMN): In response to the directive from the Ministry of Road Transport & Highway RT and Transport Commissioner, Govt. High School, Burma Camp observed National Road Safety week from April 23-30.
An update from the school informed that during weeklong observation, students were taken out of the school campus and taught various safety guidelines. Variety of programmes related to road safety were organised to enlighten the students on road safety, driving rules and cautions. Educational banners, safety posters, safety films, pocket guides and leaflets related to road safety were distributed to the public and students.
Students were also taught about traffic signals, crossing road, using of sidewalks, avoiding rushing while crossing and studying safe in the moving vehicle.
Students were also made aware on how to conduct pre journey inspection, importance of wearing seat belt and helmet, maintaining speed limit, ill effects of driving under the influence of alcohol and other addiction substances.
On the last day, the school organised a painting competition on the topic ‘Road safety’ for the students of class 10 to mark the success and end of the week long observation event.
