WOKHA — Genesis Old Riphyim and Waxen CC have booked their places in the grand finale of the 30th Winter Cricket Challenge, setting up a showdown on January 5.
In the first semi-final played on Saturday, January 3, Lancer CC won the toss and elected to bat but were bundled out for 89 runs in 19.2 overs.
Sanjay Shiva (28) and Shamwang (11) were the only batters to reach double figures.
Chasing the target, Genesis secured victory by six wickets in 16.4 overs. Lijanbemo Patton top-scored with 39 runs, supported by Nzanthung (26) and Renjamo (13).
Nchumbemo from Genesis was adjudged man of the match for his four-wicket haul.

The second semi-final saw Waxen CC face Dashing Dudes, Wokha Village. Opting to field first after winning the toss, Dashing Dudes saw Waxen CC pile up 204 runs in 20 overs, losing five wickets.
Key contributions came from Sujal Prasad (68 off 24 balls), Alok Sharma (57), and Shiva Mahadev (43).
In reply, Dashing Dudes managed 174 runs before being bowled out in the 19th over. Aarush (48) and Munchun (23) were the notable scorers. Sujal Prasad’s knock and three wickets earned him the man of the match award.
The grand finale between Genesis Old Riphyim CC and Waxen CC will take place on January 5 at 11 am.
