WOKHA — Genesis Old Riphyim clinched the 30th Winter Cricket Challenge organised by Senior Noble Klan, defeating Waxen CC by seven wickets in the final in Wokha on Monday.
Waxen CC, after winning the toss, opted to bat first and posted 115 runs in 20 overs for the loss of eight wickets.
Only two batsmen managed to reach double figures—Shiva Mahadev with 20 runs and Alok Sharma with a fighting 52—stabilising the inning for Waxen CC.
In reply, Genesis Old Riphyim faced an early collapse in the top order. However, the middle-order duo of Lijanbemo Patton (51 not out) and Nchumbemo Humtsoe (29 not out) steadied the chase and guided their side to victory. Patton’s unbeaten half-century earned him the Man of the Match award.
