Dimapur, May 8 (EMN): The GBs’ Union Dimapur (GBUD) and the Dimapur Urban Council Chairmen Federation (DUCCF) have urged the Food and Civil Supplies department (FCSD) to allow the priority household (PHH) scheme card holders to receive monthly rice quota without the usual electronic thumb impression system citing reason due to surge in Covid-19 cases in Dimapur.
The two organisations were of the opinion that the procedure would greatly ease and avoid huge crowd gathering thereby maintaining social distance and contain the spread of coronavirus.
In a joint statement, the GBUD president MY Ngullie and DUCCF president Tsenthungo Nyamo have also requested the concerned department authority to include the GBs/ chairmen of the colony in the rice distribution to monitor and for a better distribution system to the public.
The two organisations have also appreciated the department for timely distribution of rice to the card holders. It has assured readiness to give assistance to the concerned department authority as and when required.
