KOHIMA — Speaking with Eastern Mirror, Vitovol Zhotso, GB of Lerie Colony under Ward 16 comprising Lerie, Lerie Chazou, New Reserve and New Minister's Hill, insisted on ‘one man, one vote,’ thereby restricting proxy voting in alignment with their panchayat's resolution.

He informed that polling at the five stations in Lerie colony went off peacefully without any untoward incidents. He added that voters without appropriate identity cards and those attempted to vote on their family behalf were turned down.

Hoshito Asumi, GB of Ward 13 (Lower Chandmari), apprised that the youth organisation along with panchayat and political parties have ensured free and fair elections.

Augustine Solo, representing the NDPP candidate, expressed happiness on the smooth conduct of the election process at the polling stations in Poterlane colony.

A sector commander overseeing six wards, noted a significant increase in public interest compared to the previous state assembly and Lok Sabha elections saying "Voters are showing heightened engagement and enthusiasm."
