Dimapur, July 7 (EMN): Justice Rashmin Manharbhai Chhaya called on Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio on Thursday after assuming charge as Chief Justice of Gauhati High Court (GHC) Assam, Nagaland, Mizoram and Arunachal Pradesh.
Rio in a Twitter update stated, “The Hon'ble Mr. Justice RM Chhaya, the new Chief Justice of The Gauhati High Court called on me. I wish him the best for his term in office.”
The chief justice also visited the District and Sessions Court Kohima on July 6.
The Kohima Bar Association (KBA) led by its president Khriedi Theünuo welcomed Chhaya on his maiden visit to the lower court after taking over as the Chief Justice of GHC, KBA informed in a press release.
Judges of the Kohima Bench of Gauhati High Court, Justice L S Jamir and Justice Kakheto Sema also accompanied the Chief Justice. Chhaya held a brief interaction with the KBA members and also inspected the functioning of the District and Sessions Court Kohima.
