G-Sports Mokokchung lift Imtimeren Memorial Open Volleyball Trophy

MOKOKCHUNG — G-Sports Mokokchung became the champions of the 48th Imtimeren Memorial Open Volleyball Trophy by defeating Fighting Peace in a straight set: 25-18; 25-12; 25-23, on Saturday.

The two-day sporting event, which was organised by Longsa Sports Association and sponsored by Concerned Citizens and Sporting Aficionados on the theme “To foster the young generation,” concluded at Salang Lenden, Longsa, Mokokchung, on Saturday.

G-Sports Mokokchung received a cash prize of INR 50,000 along with certificates and a trophy, while the runners-up took home INR 30,000 along with certificates and a trophy.

In individual prizes, Watinuken was declared the Best Spiker of the event; Best Setter-Tongpangsunep; and Best Libero-Chubamanen, all from G-Sports Mokokchung; while Bendangtemsu of Fighting Peace received Player of the Tournament award.

A total of six teams, namely Lion’s Club Longsa, G-Sports Mokokchung, Fighting Peace, Eagle’s Club Longsa, Evergreen Club Ungma, and UYC Moalenden participated in the tournament.

Speaking at the closing ceremony, N Takala (Longsa watsü) spoke on how a sportsperson should behave in different situations.

Winning once doesn’t guarantee a future without losses or vice versa, she said while urging the players to remember their ‘Creator’ in times of joy and sorrow, which will help them become winners in life.
