G Rio U-19 tournament: Wins for Chümoukedima, Niuland

DIMAPUR — Chümoukedima defeated Peren by 9 wickets, while Niuland secured victory over Tseminyu, also by 9 wickets, on the third day of the ongoing 4th Late G Rio Memorial Men’s U-19 Inter-District Tournament, on Thursday.

In the first match played at Nagaland Cricket Stadium, Peren, which opted to bat first after winning the toss, could not put up a show as they were bowled out for 66 runs in 21.1 overs, an update stated.

Only Amit Marak and Bishu, with 19 runs each, were the main run getters. For Chümoukedima, Aloto Sumi took a spectacular five-wicket haul, which was complemented by Ravi and Anungsang Lemtur with 3 wickets and 1 wicket, respectively.

At Sovima Cricket Ground, Niuland defeated Tseminyu by 9 wickets to book their place in the semi-final.

Tseminyu were bowled out for 43 runs in 10.4 overs after they won the toss and elected to bat first. Gwakenye Khing (10 runs) was the only notable batter, as the other batters gave away their wickets in quick succession.

Lovito Momin with 3 wickets, Abhijeet with 2 wickets, Sujit with 1 wicket, and Adze with 1 wicket were the wicket takers for Niuland.

In the run chase, Niuland comfortably reached the target in 6.1 overs, losing a wicket. For Tseminyu, Hyunyelo Khing took the lone wicket.
