G Rio Memorial U-19 (Boys) Inter-District tourney: Dimapur, Mokokchung win

Dimapur, Jan. 19 (EMN): Dimapur and Mokokchung won their respective matches played on Tuesday, in the ongoing 1stG Rio Memorial U-19 (Boys) Inter-District tournament.

An update from Nagaland Cricket Association (NCA) informed that Mokokchung opted to bat first after winning the toss in the first match of the day against Kohima.

Mokokchung scored 169 for loss of four wickets in 25 overs with Nripen Rai scoring 86 runs (not out) and Mughavi contributing 28 runs.

Samuel Zaputou took two wickets Zidu Pohena took one wicket for Kohima.

In the run chase, Kohima managed to make only 122 runs for loss of five wickets in 25 overs. Mokokchung won the match by 47 runs.

Samuel Zaputou (captain) was the main contributor for Kohima with 35 runs (not out), while Micheal Zaputou scored 18 runs. Odilemba and Neizekho took two wickets apiece for Mokokchung, while Temsulong claimed one wicket.

In the second match of the day, Tuensang elected to bat first after winning the toss and put up a total of 126 runs in 22 overs for loss of six wickets, with Jongpongmar Ao (captain) scoring 34 runs (not out) and Rajesh contributing 30 runs. Raja took 3 wickets and Rahul,  1, for Dimapur.

Tuensang’s innings was disrupted by rain at 22 overs (out of 25 overs), and thus DLS Method was introduced, wherein Dimapur was made to chase a revised target of 137 runs in 22 overs, informed an update from NCA.

Dimapur managed to make 137 for loss of three wickets in just 12.2 overs to win the match comfortable by seven wickets.

Tohuka Zhimo (captain) scored 56 runs, Yugandhar (wk) – 32, and Mhalevor Dzeyie – 19 (not out) for Dimapur, while Baharul, Rajesh and Wangto took one wicket each for Tuensang.
