G Kaito Aye urges compassion, curiosity at St. Joseph’s graduation day ceremony
KOHIMA — The 33rd graduation day of St. Joseph’s College (A), Jakhama, for the 2023 batch was held on Saturday at the college’s indoor stadium.
A total of 665 graduates were felicitated on the occasion.
Congratulating the graduates, G Kaito Aye, the minister of Roads and Bridges, urged the students to view the college as a sanctuary where dreams are born, potentials are unlocked, and friendships are forged.
He encouraged them to embrace compassion and cultivate a thirst for knowledge in an ever-evolving world. He emphasised the importance of daring to dream in order to reach greater heights.
Rev. Dr. James Thoppil, the Bishop of Kohima Diocese, and K Zubemo Humtsoe, director of the department of Business Administration, shared wisdom and insights during the event. The best graduate, Kenlumle, also delivered a speech.
Kümsüto Achumi and Keneitsonuo Chatsu hosted the event, which was attended by Kevipodi Sophie, MLA from Jakhama, management members, teaching and non-teaching faculty, and others.
During the event, Tosangla S Chang received the APJ Abdul Kalam Award; Miss Lideno Kikon received the Mahatma Gandhi Award; Chungnungmoi Guite received the Dr. Talimeren Ao Award; Tangsoi C received the Best BBA Student Award; Pounamdiliu K C received the Best Science Award; Tosangla S Chang received the Alumni Association Award; Lanutoshi Longkumer received the Avica Achumi Memorial Award; Akumla Jamir received the Chikrophuyo Memorial Award; Kevizeno Kiso received the Khriebuno Nagi Literary Award; and Kenlumle received the Capt. Regina Razousinuo and Best Graduate Awards.
Awards and gold medals were also presented to 13 top-performing undergraduate and postgraduate students.
